Boehringer Ingelheim India and EMRI Green Health Services, a GVK enterprise operating the 108 National Emergency Ambulance Service, have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance pre-hospital stroke care across 14 states and Union Territories.

Leveraging the globally recognized Angels Initiative, Boehringer Ingelheim will provide specialized training for EMRI’s trainers, call center personnel, and over 9,000 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

This partnership aims to implement a pre-notification system for better hospital preparedness, standardize emergency protocols, and ensure timely intervention within the critical 4.5-hour window.

"This collaboration will transform pre-hospital stroke care in India, bridging critical gaps to ensure timely intervention. Training ambulance teams across 14 states and implementing a pre-notification system marks a significant step in addressing the stroke burden and improving patient outcomes." - Dr. Jeyaraj Durai Pandian, President, World Stroke Organization

By integrating structured training and streamlined ambulance-to-hospital coordination, this initiative has the potential to significantly reduce stroke-related mortality and disability. For doctors, it promises a more organized referral pathway and rapid mobilization of stroke-ready resources, bolstering overall healthcare outcomes.
